PEASE NOTE: ALL WALKS CANCELLED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT IN CONNECTION WITH COVID-19 OUTBREAK UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Our club makes use of the wonderful amenity of the Wicklow Mountains situated right on our doorstep with walks at various levels provided on Saturdays, Sundays and Tuesdays. In addition we sometimes travel further afield to other parts of the country; the Mourne Mountains, Cooleys, Slieve Blooms, Comeraghs, Galtees, Blackstairs, Kerry etc. Some of our members also organize walks abroad giving the opportunity for exploring walking areas across Europe.
While most members come from the Wicklow/Dublin area, many counties in Leinster are represented on the weekly walks. There has always been an international flavour to the club with walkers from the U.K., continental Europe, and further afield. The club welcomes all walkers over 18 years of age. As hillwalking is an energetic activity a reasonable level of fitness and competence on rough terrain is a necessary requirement. Walks are organised at different levels, but don’t be fooled by our name, we are a hillwalking club, not a ‘strolling’ club!
As well as hillwalking a number of social events are organised including picnics on the hills and parties at Christmas, occasional meals out on special occasions or the annual Summer barbecue.
If you would like to come on a day’s hillwalking please see the menu at the top of the page which will guide you to other pages on the site giving all the information you need regarding the grades of walk and what days we walk on.
